Texas has both Constitutional carry and Texas issues a License to Carry. This is not legal advice, but basically if you are not prohibited from owning a firearm and are 21 years of age, you can carry without a permit. Some may wonder why they might need to bother with the training, fingerprints and expense of getting a Texas License to Carry. There are several reasons why getting a permit is a good idea.

- Enhanced Legal Standing – Having a Texas License to Carry can come into play if you are ever in a defensive shooting. The reason is, that few criminals bother to get a LTC while you went through the cost, the time the fingerprints, and background check. Statistically this puts us in a category of citizens who have much lower arrest rates than the general population.
In conclusion, there are good reasons why you should get a Texas License to Carry if you wish to go armed. And you can do the classroom portion online. Self-paced, convenient, and affordable. You will still have to demonstrate proficiency at the range however, but getting the classroom portion online makes sense.
